Families,
Hi there. I hope you are all having a wonderful fall season. I just wanted to give you an update on student progress. We have successfully completed our introduction into the scientific method, scientific drawing, and to the engineering design process. We are now moving our way into the space. We will spend the next few weeks discussing the following concepts. What is a lightyear? What is the universe? What is a galaxy? What is a solar system? How far away are all these things in space time? Take a look at the cool space videos I upload over the next few weeks. I encourage you to discuss these topics with your child and challenge your own understanding of the cosmos. Enjoy! Mrs. Lindsey Las familias, Hola. ¡Disfrutar! Mrs. Lindsey

Get ready for this! Your student just finished phase one of the tootsie pop challenge. They discovered that it takes the average licker close to 350 licks to get to the tootsie pop center of a tootsie pop. Just check out the data on the science page. Our class made topped 17,000 licks in total during our investigation. That's a lot of licking. Stay tuned because this is only the beginning. This week our scientists are working on a phase two. During phase two students will be using the engineering design process to construct a safety divice for their tootsie pop so it can be safely transported to a different location. Ask them about it and get involved. You may already notice them asking for some items from home to build these devices. In other news, remember that students are expected to show up to class with a positive attitude and be ready to learn. Due to parent feedback, I am also no longer going to post my lessons here. Students will still have access to these from school and are welcome to ask if they need any additional information.
Thank you! |
