I am happy to congratulate my students on there hard work and efforts over the past few months. With spring break now over we are in the home stretch! Over the next few weeks students in my 8th grade classes will be working on understanding Newton's laws of motion with more detail. They will be focusing on finishing their projectile launching devices and using them to explore change in position as an absolute value. This will promptly be followed by an acceleration lab and a calculating applied force lab. Both are similar in nature but are designed to help students understand these two different qualities associated with Newtonian Physics. 6th grade student will be working on a completely different platform as we continue to explore the many wonders of plate tectonics. Over the next few weeks students will be learning about earthquakes and volcanoes and how this natural disasters are create. The will also learn the potential affects related to these disasters. Students will be be watching a power point on volcanoes (located on the presentations tab) and also be completing an interactive web exercise. Have a wonderful week!

Have you ever wondered what your carbon footprint is, or what you can do to reduce it? Well, if your interested in finding out more ask your student to share all the interesting things they've learned. To wrap up 2nd quarter, your students will be working on creating a wanted poster to bring those energy wasting vigilantes to justice. We are hoping to raise awareness for how energy waste can lead to a rise in carbon dioxide levels, and also pledge to use less energy as a way to help lower greenhouse gas emissions. Go get them Carbon Control Cops!! The end of the 2nd quarter is rapidly approaching and your students did a great job their atomic structure models and posters. I couldn't be more proud. If you are interested in seeing them feel free to check them out. They will be on display in the C-Wing trophy case.
